About
Jonathan Portes is Professor of Economics and Public Policy at King’s College London. His research focuses particularly on migration and labour mobility, the economic effects of Brexit and the UK labour market.
He began his career at HM Treasury, was Chief Economist at the Department for Work and Pensions from 2002–08 and at the Cabinet Office from 2008–11, and was Director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research from 2011–15.
